Launch of the ASTREOS project
IRT Jules Verne, in collaboration with EDF/DP2D, BA Group and DEMBOOST, is launching the ASTREOS project. This ambitious project aims to automate decontamination and radiological monitoring operations in nuclear environments.
L’innovation robotique au service des opérations d’assainissement des sites nucléaires en démantèlement.
The goal
The operational deployment of a prototype robot capable of carrying out, semi-autonomously and at heights of up to 10 metres, decontamination and radiological monitoring operations without the need for scaffolding or a cherry picker, whilst reducing the physical strain and exposure to risks (safety, dosimetry, etc.).
At the heart of the project
- To design technological building blocks suited to sanitation scenarios in challenging environments, addressing, amongst other things, issues of safety, stability, robustness, precision and millimetre-level positioning.
- To validate an operational robotic solution at a representative site.
- To prepare for and anticipate industrial transfer to enable rapid technological maturity (TRL) amongst future manufacturers.
This project illustrates IRT Jules Verne’s commitment to supporting manufacturers, from the laboratory stage through to operational implementation, in the roll-out of innovative and high-performance solutions.
